Strength and fracture mechanism of a magnesium alloy for medical applications after equal-channel angular pressing

In this paper, we study the strength and fracture mechanism of cast magnesium alloy Mg-Zn-Ca (1.0 % Zn, 0.2 Ca) for medical applications after equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) in comparison with initial condition (after homogenization annealing). Mechanical tests included tensile torsion samples a diameter 3 mm impact V-shaped stress raiser. The microrelief all fractures was studied Phenom ProX G6 scanning electron microscope (SEM). results testing showed that ECAP increased by factor 1.5 –1.8, elongation 2.6. torsional 1.1–1.3, relative shear decreased 1.3 as compared annealing. contrast to static loads, Mg-Zn-Са is poorly resisting one-time loads. Analysis allows us conclude more promising manufacture products experience loads during operation,
